  Failure to diagnose an obvious fault leading to major failure. While delivering my car for its first service at Future Auto North Lakes, I brought the service manager's attention to the unusual rattling that was coming from the engine. He assured me that the noise would be inspected. At pickup I was told that the noise sounded "a bit belty" and that it "only needed a fresh oil change". With the noise still present but feeling assured I continued using my vehicle as usual. Two months later the rattling became worse and I took it to another mechanic who was able to diagnose within the hour that it was a worn water pump bearing, which was out of warranty by a 1000km. If I had the issue diagnosed correctly at Future Auto North Lakes then I would have had had the part replaced at warranty. In future I will be taking my car to a more thorough mechanic.
